I got a...

...new job. I no longer work in medicine, Im now a truck driver. See, I even have a trucker hat. So, just kidding. But seriously, I am good at driving and not going to surgery. I flew to Phoenix yesterday, picked up equipment, and drove immediately to Los Angeles. I dont know if you've ever seen a map of the Western US, but its a desert down there. And its summertime. So, hot. 113 degrees farenheit hot. But, you know, no big deal - I was in a Sprinter with the air conditioning blasting (and wearing my trucker hat). And somewhere in the middle, traffic slowed. Traffic stopped. Traffic stayed stopped. And people started getting out of their cars to mingle. I was listening to a program on NPR that I was determined to finish, so I sat. In the air conditioning. Being the socialite that I am, I began getting curious about what the other motorists were discussing. Maybe the upcoming election. Perhaps speculating as to what the stoppage was about. More likely they were discussing the best place to pick up trucker hats. So I hopped out to look for a victim to small-talk with. I only made it a few feet. I remembered what 113 degrees really felt like. Right back to the car. Right back to the fake air. Right back to my ice cold water. Right back to my cab. Right back to NPR. Ah, home.

Now I am sitting in the Las Vegas airport. Didnt drive, but flew. Didnt want to fly here, but I had an opportunity to get home early, so I jumped it. I wasnt even supposed to get off the plane - it was one of those connections where they just slow the plane down, the Las Vegas people jump off, and the Denver people jump on...kind of like the trains in the old movies. So I was on the plane (asleep) during the connection and the (very cute) flight attendant woke me up to tell me that flight was cancelled. No real big deal, the next flight was only an hour later- but I think that I am doing something wrong. Maybe I am not supposed to be here. When I asked the gate agent when my flight was, it seemed that I was REALLY burdening her. And when I went to grab a bite to eat, the girl seemed to have better things to do than to make me my sandwich, at the sandwich store. Behind the sandwich counter. I got a great deal on a $10 shitty bagel sandwich though, which was good. They even cut me a deal and only charged me $5 for a little bottle of water...AND, I dont know if you know this, water is the most abundant resource on planet earth.
Back to Denver, land of Monday Night Ultimate Frisbee, Tuesday Night Rockies Games, Wednesday Night Cruises, Thursday Night Kickball. I think this weekend, I will stay in. Or not.
